Magic tea with a magic touch?

For thousands of years in almost every household in China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam there was, more often than not, a pot of green tea on the go. History tells us that these countries do not suffer as much from Western lifestyle-related illnesses (including heart disease and cancers), most likely in part thanks to their frequently consumed cups of green tea.


There are no calories in these cups of green tea, no fats, carbs or sugars but they are brimming over with nutritional benefits. Green tea is loaded with polyphenol antioxidants, including a catechin called EGCG. These antioxidants can have various beneficial effects on health, take a look at a few:

  1. There are many studies that show green tea can boost the metabolic rate and increase fat burning in the short term, Some studies show that green tea may be particularly effective at reducing the dangerous abdominal fat.

  2. Green tea has powerful antioxidants that may protect against cancer. Multiple studies show that green tea drinkers have a lower risk of various types of cancer.

  3. The bioactive compounds in green tea can have various protective effects on the brain. They may reduce the risk of both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, the two most common neurodegenerative disorders.

  4. Some controlled trials show that green tea can cause mild reductions in blood sugar levels. It may also lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

  5. Green tea has been shown to lower total and LDL cholesterol, as well as protect the LDL particles from oxidation. Studies show that green tea drinkers have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

For maximum health benefits, the recommended number of cups of green tea per day is 5 or 6. If you like me don't like the taste, or don't want too much caffeine, think about taking a high quality supplement.


As we know, all supplements cannot all be equal - just like fine wines, some are much better and that's down to careful and consistent choice of the best ingredients, for which of course you expect to pay a little more. Here's my choice for the quality and the fact that it is equivalent to drinking 6 cups but without the caffeine! Green tea supplement
